(Assistant Professor)
School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad (P.O. Central University)
I was introduced to research when I joined graduate program at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU, Delhi) where I applied information theoretic measures to understand genome organization. For post-doctoral research, I drifted to applying next-generation sequencing (NGS) for trait discovery research at Int. Crops Res. Inst. for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT, Hyderabad), and subsequently at International Rice Research Institute (IRRI, Philippines). After my return to India, I did some collaborative research on human gut Metagenomics at JNU as visiting researcher before moving again to ICRISAT, but now as a Ramalingaswami fellow to pursue candidate gene discovery research for C4 phenotype. Since 2018, I am at University of Hyderabad in Dept. of Systems & Computational Biology, exploring how genomics can address problems related to evolution, sustainable agriculture, human heath and nutrition, as well as to teach computational biology, genomics, molecular systems, etc.
